The Duchy of Cornwall is inviting Cornwall-based creatives to apply for its ‘Meet the Maker’ pop-up series at the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery.

Launched in May 2025, the initiative offers independent artists, designers and makers a free retail space to showcase and sell their work, helping to promote local talent while giving visitors the opportunity to discover unique products created across the region.

Each month, the Nursery hosts a different maker, transforming part of the space into a pop-up showcase of Cornish creativity. The programme highlights a wide range of crafts, from printmaking and ceramics to textiles, illustration and hand-carved woodwork, while also offering visitors the chance to meet the people behind the products through demonstrations and workshops.

Since launching, the series has welcomed a diverse group of creatives including hand-carved spoon maker Felix the Wood, wildlife artist Sophie Nash, ceramicist Gwen Vaughan, weaver Rae Weaver, and paper sculptor Lydia Jones, among many others. Artists have hosted live demonstrations at the Nursery, giving visitors an insight into traditional and contemporary craft techniques.

The programme, which has proven popular with both makers and visitors, is now inviting applications from Cornwall-based creatives for ‘Meet the Maker’ pop-ups from September onwards. Cornwall-based artists, designers and makers interested in taking part are encouraged to register their interest by emailing [email protected].

The Duchy of Cornwall is committed to empowering its communities and supporting local business owners. The ‘Meet the Maker’ series builds on this, creating opportunities for independent businesses to reach new audiences while celebrating the creativity and craftsmanship found across Cornwall.
Naomi Kittow, Head of Buying and Merchandising at the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery, says:
“Cornwall has an incredible community of independent creatives and small businesses. The ‘Meet the Maker’ series is a great way to celebrate that talent, giving makers a space to showcase their work while allowing visitors to discover and connect with the people behind the products. We have had great success so far, welcoming over ten makers since we began less than a year ago, and we’re exciting to continue this and showcase a whole host of new artists over the year ahead.”
