• The development will deliver a mix of one-, two-and three-bedroom homes, specifically for people with a strong local connection to the islands
• Designed with sustainability in mind, the homes will feature rooftop solar panels, high levels of insulation, positive ventilation, electric vehicle charging and dedicated spaces for the island car share scheme
Construction is underway on the Duchy of Cornwall’s development of 10 new sustainable houses on the Isles of Scilly, with the first residents expected in winter 2026.
Located in Telegraph on St Mary’s, the development has been designed to help tackle the local housing shortage, with homes designated to those who have lived on the Isles of Scilly for more than five years, or who currently work on the islands.
The development, which includes four one-bedroom properties, four two-bedroom properties, and two three-bedroom homes, has been designed with sustainability in mind from the outset. Once complete, the homes will feature high levels of insulation, positive ventilation throughout and rooftop solar panels. Each property will also have a dedicated parking space for the island car share scheme and access to have electric vehicle charging points.
This development represents the Duchy of Cornwall’s continued investment in the Isles of Scilly. The Duchy has partnered with contractor S J Quick & Sons on the project, who have been supported by a team of skilled tradespeople responsible for the ongoing maintenance and improvement of its property portfolio on the Isles of Scilly.
