Duchy becomes Founding Partner of Cornish Pirates FoundationDuchy becomes Founding Partner of Cornish Pirates Foundation
The Duchy are proud to announce that we are the official Founding Partner of the Cornish Pirates Foundation, supporting communities across Cornwall.
The new partnership brings together two organisations that are deeply woven into the fabric of Cornwall, and who share a mission to enhance lives and strengthen communities across the region.
The Foundation focuses on mentoring young people, standing as male allies to help reduce violence against women and girls, improving physical and mental wellbeing, and delivering programmes that support veterans and communities across Cornwall. Working alongside the Cornish Pirates, it uses rugby's core values of Teamwork, Respect, Discipline and Resilience to create positive, lasting change for individuals and communities.

Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Ambassador Geraint Richards, Duchy of Cornwall said:
“As the founding partner of the Pirates Foundation, we are proud to support an organisation that is helping to strengthen communities across Cornwall. Sport has a unique ability to connect people, build confidence and improve wellbeing. Together, we share a commitment to creating opportunities that enable people and communities to thrive; fostering healthier, more resilient places for future generations.”
Cornish Pirates Foundation Co-chair Nicola Lloyd said:
“This is a visionary alliance that will be felt immediately by young and old across the county. The Pirates Foundation is able through this partnership to launch new programmes with schools and community groups that bring tangible physical and mental benefits to young people.”
Pirates CEO Sally Pettipher said:
“Our players and coaches will be working closely with the Foundation and the Duchy of Cornwall to encourage more people to participate more regularly in projects that genuinely build life changing outcomes. The appeal of recognised and respected professional rugby players giving their time, brings greater strength to each project, meaning more people get more involved and gain vastly more benefit.”
This partnership strongly aligns with the Duchy's commitment to building healthy communities in Cornwall, one of our heartlands. We look forward to working alongside the Foundation to support individuals, strengthen communities and deliver lasting positive impact across the county.
