HRH The Duke of Cornwall, visited Nansledan as part of a two‑day programme in Cornwall and The Isles of Scilly, meeting residents, local organisations and partners involved in shaping the future of the growing community.

Nansledan, an urban extension to Newquay, is currently home to around 2,000 residents and more than 40 businesses. The development is due for completion around 2045 and will ultimately include 3,700 homes, with 30% delivered as integrated affordable housing.

The visit began at Kew An Lergh, an award‑winning development, recognised for its sustainability credentials and community‑led initiatives. The Duke then walked on to Market Street, passing the new build-to-rent homes and meeting new residents Jess and Nick Dunston.

Market Street is set to become the commercial heart of the community, a vibrant, modern high street designed for residents, businesses and visitors. As one of the first traditionally designed high streets to be built in over 100 years, it represents a major milestone in the long‑term evolution of Nansledan. With construction now well underway, The Duke joined residents and community representatives for a ceremonial handprint to mark progress on site.

The final stop was St Petrocs, where The Duke of Cornwall’s Charitable Foundation has committed £3 million to support the creation of 24 homes for people experiencing homelessness. Operated by Cornish charity St Petrocs, the homes will provide safe accommodation alongside wrap‑around support. During the visit, The Duke added finishing touches to the project and spent time speaking with those involved in the project.

The visit underscored The Duke’s commitment to impactful community development and the Duchy's active role in shaping these long-term projects.
