Housebuilders involved in the Duchy of Cornwall’s award-winning Nansledan development at Newquay are celebrating reaching major milestones with well over 800 homes now completed.
CG Fry & Son has delivered its 300th home, while Morrish Homes recently marked the completion of 250 properties. Together with the 277 homes already finished by Wain Homes, Nansledan has achieved a total of 827 completed dwellings to the end of 2024, and since construction commenced more than a decade ago.
This year will see Nansledan reach a number of other milestones as it marks the 10th anniversary of the first residents moving in, including the start of development of its brand new high street, Market Street, and the completion of the Newquay Strategic Route by Cornwall Council, which will form the main route through the community.
Nansledan will eventually comprise up to 3,700 new homes and has been designed as a sustainable urban extension to Newquay, with an already bustling range of shops, cafés, restaurants, offices, health and leisure facilities.
The fast-growing community includes around 40 businesses, a primary school, nursery school, skate track, playing fields and almost 300 acres of green outdoor space to promote health, wellbeing and biodiversity.
Sam Kirkness, Nansledan Development Manager at the Duchy of Cornwall, said: “This is a significant moment in the evolution of Nansledan, and we are delighted to celebrate the progress made by our development partners."

“With the upcoming 10th anniversary of our first residents, the start of our Market Street development, and the near completion of the Newquay Strategic Route, Nansledan has fast become a vibrant and sustainable community, offering homes, jobs and opportunities for local people.”- Sam Kirkness, Nansledan Development Manager.
Over the coming months, work will start in earnest on phase one of Market Street, which will be the beating high street of Nansledan and a vibrant new food, retail, office and leisure destination for Newquay and North Cornwall.
The Duchy recently confirmed Tesco as its supermarket partner for Market Street, with a 24,500 sq ft store supporting around 100 jobs. A wide range of other units of various sizes and tenures will be available, expected from early 2026, to host Cornwall’s very best producers, retailers and companies.
Market Street will front the Newquay Strategic Route, a major transport link representing a multi-million-pound investment by Cornwall Council expected to open in the coming months. The key thoroughfare will include dedicated pathways for cyclists and pedestrians to ensure safe, sustainable and accessible travel options while improving traffic flows to the east of Newquay.
