Earlier this month, a reception was held in Poundbury to celebrate the contributions of Sir David Landale, David Oliver, and Eddy Fry, whose longstanding commitment has helped shape the unique development over the past three decades. Each played a pivotal role in translating His Majesty The King's original vision for Poundbury into a thriving, integrated community that has become a model for sustainable urban planning.
In recognition of their service, three new buildings within the final phase of Poundbury will be named in their honour — a lasting tribute to their insight and dedication.

Jason Bowerman, Estate Development Manager at the Duchy of Cornwall said:
“We are delighted to come together to acknowledge the contributions of Sir David, David Oliver and Eddy Fry. They individually brought distinct strengths to the project, and their work is reflected not only in the built environment of Poundbury, but also in the broader community they helped to create. The naming of the buildings marks a significant milestone as Poundbury enters its concluding phase, recognising key individuals who helped bring the vision to life.”
Philip Fry, Managing Director, CG Fry & Son, whose father Eddy was recognised at the event, said:
“As Managing Director of CG Fry & Son, my father played a significant role in delivering the Poundbury vision, from the very first phase. He sadly passed away in 2021 but he would have been honoured to have his contribution commemorated in such a special way. He was passionate about creating quality homes and leaving a strong legacy for generations to come and so he was immensely proud of Poundbury. Our family is delighted that the names Eddy Fry, Sir David Landale and David Oliver have a lasting presence on site – it’s a very fitting tribute.”
Andrew Hamilton, Poundbury Development Director, Duchy of Cornwall said:
“I have been involved with Poundbury since 1991, and in the formative years worked closely alongside Sir David Landale at the Duchy, David Oliver at West Dorset District Council, and Eddy Fry at CG Fry & Son. It has been wonderful to be able to recognise the contributions of the three individuals through commemoration, which was supported by His Majesty The King.”
