A sunny day, houses in Kennington opposite some trees
The Duchy of Cornwall in London
• Home to our Buckingham Gate office which has been in the care of the Duchy since the 1850s, when Prince Albert was Lord Warden of the Stannaries.
• The Duchy has held land in Kennington since 1337, including Oval Cricket Ground, home to Surrey County Cricket Club.
• A mix of 40 homes and over 15 commercial properties.
• Continuing to invest in Kennington, including bringing forward new homes under the long-term care of the Duchy.

For almost 700 years Kennington has been at the heart of the Duchy’s London estate. We have a long-term presence in the area, including at Oval Cricket Ground. In 1845 the Oval was leased to Surrey County Cricket Club and remains a world-renowned sporting venue to this day.

In Kennington, the Duchy has played a significant role in creating a thriving central London neighbourhood, having developed much of the area including Courtenay Square and Denny Crescent during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

We are committed to creating high-quality homes and supporting healthy, vibrant communities that build belonging.

We are currently preparing plans for 55 Kennington Oval, find out more here.
